"Best of California" Team Hits the Road in the new 2011 Lincoln MKX



Last week, on September 27, 2010, we kicked off our 2011 Lincoln MKX-sponsored "Best of California" Road trip. What an amazing first week. Covering Sacramento, San Francisco and Monterey in only 4 days was a blast! And as you can imagine, we're gonna need some time to sift through the photos and video. But for some of you, I'm getting ahead of myself...

Quick Recap of Our Mission
As many of you know, The California Lincoln Dealers handed Actress/Model Vane Millon and I a 2011 Lincoln MKX, tasking us with the challenge of generating some local buzz and interest in their amazing new luxury cross-over SUV. I'm the "Product Specialist", she's the beautiful and sophisticated (but very approachable) model. Pretty straight forward.

To get things started, I got trained up by a local California Lincoln Dealer, Vane did some video shout-outs to local businesses on her Best of California Group page, and the California Lincoln dealers helped spread the word by setting up their own pages: Facebook, Youtube and Twitter. Within just a few weeks, local California businesses started chatting it up and reaching out to us! For more info on how it all got started, click here. First Stops: Sacramento, San Francisco and Monterey
The first leg of of the trip last week was an absolute whirlwind. Sacramento, San Francisco and Monterey in just four days. Did you see some of our posts and tweets? For those of you who missed them, you can check 'em out here. Vane even got a chance to do her first MKX walk-around in San Francisco! We shot so much incredible footage it's going to be tough to decide what to edit out. And trust me, there were major suprises, too. Here's a quick snippet of our time in Sacramento. You can find a ton more pics and even some videos on Vane's group page, as well.




As for San Francisco, it was just as wild. Went by in an absolute blur. Here's just a few out-takes and snippets from behind the scenes in San Francisco. Like I said, we had some surprises there, too. But then again, when does a road trip ever go exactly like planned?




Then it was on to Monterey, where by now, we were grateful for some R&R in one of the most beautiful spots in all of California. The camera crew, a little slap-happy, also took a quick time-out to show how NOT to activate the MKX's Blind Spot Information System (that's the little orange light that illuminates on your side mirror when there's a car in your blindspot.) Here's how it really works. :) Below is how our camera men tried to activate it.

Flash Point Communications Launches Ford Fiesta "Gimme the Gig" Campaign

It's What The Cool Kids Are Driving!

Musicians of the world, listen up! We are thrilled to announce the launch of our newest exciting cross-platform social media campaign for the Ford Fiesta and Western Region Ford Dealers – "Gimme the Gig" – which could make one unsigned musician or band the next big musical sensation.


To make this huge opportunity happen, we are privileged to partner with Grammy-Award winning producer Don Was, and Tom Grill of the Western Region Ford Dealers. We, along with Grill, developed “Gimme the Gig,” a multimedia campaign integrating experiential, social, and digital interactions while building awareness around the 2011 Ford Fiesta. Unsigned musicians throughout the US are currently able to submit performance videos to the Gimme the Gig website, where fans can watch and vote on their favorite acts.

Top-rated bands from all over the US will perform in the Ford Fiesta Lounge Tour taking place at lounges and venues across the Western Region (Desert States, Mountain States, Northwest States, Southern and Northern California). The schedule can be found on the Gimme the Gig website, where fans can enter the Groupie Giveaway for a chance to win one of several prizes each month for the life of the campaign.

The winning musician or band will be selected at the Gimme the Gig finale at which seven finalists, including two “wild card” selections, will compete at a TBC venue in Los Angeles. Judges will include the dance crew Kaba Modern Legacy (finalists on MTVs America’s Best Dance Crew), pro skateboarder Sergie Ventura, pro surfer Erica Hosseini, and Don Was himself!

Flash Point Communications 2011 Lincoln MKX Best of California Campaign

THE 2011 LINCOLN MKX BEST OF CALIFORNIA CAMPAIGN OFFICIALLY KICKS OFF

We are thrilled to announce the launch of our newest ground-breaking social media campaign for California Lincoln Dealers – the Best of California.

The California Lincoln Dealers handed Flash Point the keys to the brand new 2011 Lincoln MKX, tasking us with the challenge of building awareness and interest in the technologically advanced luxury cross-over SUV through an innovative, cutting-edge social media campaign. We rose to the occasion with a turn-key solution that highlights the vehicle’s features in an aspirational yet approachable manner, communicating across a comprehensive social media platform to a broad range of audiences – both Lincoln enthusiasts and those sharing an interest in the great state of California.

Playing off of MKX’S “Best in Class” technology, Flash Point conceived the Best of California campaign to bring together the “best of the best” in a road trip-style story. The campaign follows actress / model Vane Millon on a road trip across California in a 2011 Lincoln MKX, documenting her various destinations as well as demonstrating key features of the MKX. Vane (accompanied and documented by our very own CEO/President Scott Empringham)is posting a series of videos over the course of the road trip, showcasing the 2011 Lincoln MKX in the context of “The Best of California” – sharing with this vehicle’s amazing technological advancements as she explores the exciting sites, points of interest and local businesses in the Golden State.

Not only can viewers follow the lovely Ms. Millon’s movements through postings on the official Best of California blog, and Facebook page, along with the the California Lincoln Dealers , YouTube videos, and Twitter posts, but they can also join in the fun during her road trip by participating in events where Vane makes live appearances throughout her journey. These public events at each key destination will take place at local retail businesses, providing opportunities for fans to come out and meet Vane and the team, and get a “first look” at the ’11 MKX! And to make it even more of a WIN-WIN, the campaign is bringing attention to local culture and driving customers to benefit local economies.



As an added hook to get fans involved, they can vote for their favorite participating retail business through the California Lincoln Facebook fan page, as they compete for the title of “Best of California Business.” The winner will be announced at the campaign’s final destination in San Diego.

Vane (and team) kicked off her road trip on September 27 in Sacramento, and has made her way through San Francisco and Monterey. She will continue through Palm Springs and Los Angeles to her final destination of San Diego at the end of October.

The 2011 Lincoln MKX Journeys to Monterey for Best of California Road Trip

Breath-taking Views, Stunning Scenery and Delicious Food

Flash Point Communications, a digital media agency, is excited to announce Monterey as their third stop on the Best of California Road Trip in the 2011 Lincoln MKX. Model/actress Vane Millon, along with Scott Empringham (President/CEO of Flash Point) and a video production crew, will arrive in Monterey this Thursday, September 30, 2010.

After touring Sacramento and San Francisco, the 2011 Lincoln MKX and crew will cruise south along the Northern California coast arriving at Old Fisherman's Grotto in Monterey. Here the hungry 2011 Lincoln MKX crew will breathe in the ocean air and enjoy some award-winning clam chowder, seafood, steak and pasta. The historic Old Fisherman’s Grotto was founded in the 1950's by Sabu Shake, Sr. One of Shake’s innovations was offering free samples of his clam chowder in front of the restaurant.





Next the 2011 Lincoln MKX crew will enjoy the gorgeous and breathtaking views of the Pacific coastline on the scenic “17 mile drive” from Pacific Grove to Pebble Beach, California. The Best of California Road Trip crew may put the 2011 Lincoln MKX’s new AdvanceTrac® with roll stability control technology to the test as it hugs the winding road. After viewing Spanish Bay and the famous coastal landmark “Lone Cypress Tree”, the crew will veer inland to the rolling hills, oak trees and bountiful vineyards of Carmel Valley.



The luxury crossover 2011 Lincoln MKX will meet opulence at its finest arriving at the Bernardus Winery and Lodge. Nestled in California’s beautiful Carmel Valley, the Bernardus Winery and Lodge is the epicurean creation of Bernardus Pon. Bernardus Winery is best known for the Marinus Estate Bordeaux-style red wine, and the Marinus restaurant was voted one of Zagat's top restaurants in the Bay Area. In addition, Forbes has awarded the Bernardus Lodge, Spa and Marinus Restaurant with their prestigious 2010 Forbes Four Star Award. The 2011 Lincoln MKX crew will experience wine tasting, touring the winery, and relaxing during their visit to the Bernardus Winery and Lodge.

The Old Fisherman’s Grotto and Bernardus Winery and Lodge, along with other businesses in Lincoln’s Best of California Road Trip, are in the running to be awarded the Best of California business, as voted by their fans on the California Lincoln Mercury Facebook page . The competition objective is to create local events, which will draw consumers to local businesses to hear the inside scoop on the business, experience the culture of the city, and explore the 2011 Lincoln MKX in person. The winner will be announced at the San Diego stop of the Best of California tour.
